Don't Forget The Food
People aren't the only thing that gets scarier on Halloween. There's always tons of cute,

bizarre and often disgustingly decorated sustenance to be had. While you're party jumping,

be sure to hit the food tables at each location and grab some close-ups of the creative

cooking.

Lighting Is Everything
As I mentioned above, the conditions for shooting on Halloween tend to be pretty poor.

You'll no doubt find yourself in situation after situation of horrible lighting conditions

and it can be really tricky to capture the atmosphere. You'll want to pack a flash and look

for ways to diffuse it. Instead of pointing it directly at your subject, try bouncing it

off of walls, ceilings, shiny costumes; anything you can find! Also make sure to bring your

widest aperture lens and look for areas with some mood lighting already present.

Try A Long Exposure
While you're out there struggling with shooting in the dark, you'll have a great

opportunity for some creative and unique long exposure photos. Since it's Halloween, you

can use all the blurring that is normally frustrating to your advantage and create some

truly spooky images! The photo below is a perfect example. Notice how the small, streaked

light sources really add to the effect.
